The Monkey Personality

Quick wits and metal dexterity are the Monkey's trademarks and Monkeys pride themselves on being able to dance rings around everyone else. With their clever, alert minds, Monkeys catch on quickly and process information in a trice. The typical Monkey person is a bright as a button, nimble of foot and able to accomplish almost any task - the more intricate and involved the better. With their razor-sharp wits and huge sense of fun, Monkeys are constantly seeking new experiences and fresh challenges to stimulate their senses.

BASIC CHARACTER

The chief characteristics of the Monkey are shown in the panel above. Perhaps the key to their personality is that Monkeys posses an irrepressible sense of fun, seemingly from birth and delight in jokes, tricks and amusing stories. But they can also be a bit mischievous - especially if they ever get bored. Then they get that naughty glint in their eye and simply have to go and stir something or someone up, just for the sheer fun of it! This is done the Monkey takes a front-row seat and settles down to enjoy the fireworks. What's more, it has to be said that the Monkey may indulge in deceit - just for the pure fun of it - but he or she will call it a trick and not expect you to mind. Curiously enough, you probably won't mind, either.

Some people call it inquisitiveness. Others swear it's downright nosiness. The Monkey will say that it is simply a healthy interest. But however we label it, a Monkey always has an insatiable curiosity.

Monkey people are gifted with great mental powers but imagination, intuition and sympathy are not first among them. Somehow, despite their astonishing brightness, they seem always to take things literally and cannot imagine what is it like to be in someone else's shoes. Nevertheless, they are full of goodwill towards their slower fellows and usually have plenty of friends and admirers. They are good at problem-solving but are easily bored or distracted.

Metal Monkey

Year: 1920 &  1980

Clever, persuasive and highly ambitious, the Metal Monkey is lively, outwardly warm  and strongly  passionate. In business  this breed is a complete success story because Metal Monkeys are determined and prepared to put in a good deal of hard work in order to make it to the top. These Monkeys have ambition and strong will and also tend to like to go it alone. They have wisdom as well quick Monkeys wits and are always fully prepared to apply themselves in order to achieve their ambitions. In love their passionate nature reveals itself to the full and they are also loyal, faithful and caring.

Water Monkey

Year: 1932 & 1992

Water adds a strong measure of sensitivity to the Monkey nature which means that these Monkeys can easily hurt. To protect themselves, they keep their feelings hidden from others. In general, Water Monkeys keep a great deal under their cloaks, hiding things from others and rarely letting on about their plans. With their talents and qualities they can go one of two ways: if they concentrate on what they are up to and channel their objectives with patience, method and success and become original trend-setters and an inspiration to all. If not however they will seem fickle and indecisive and may prefer to meddle in other people's business than to get on with their own.

Wood Monkey

Year: 1944 & 2004

Wood Monkeys have the typical Monkey acumen and sharpness in full measure and are blessed with powers of logic, instinctive understanding of how things works and a practical turn of mind. This gives them a talent for science but they also have a gift for communicating and it is in the world of communications, linguistics, computers and information technology that they excel. It could be said that they have more integrity than most other Monkeys and natural gift for dealing with people. This is useful to them, as they can also be rather ambitious and they can swing their way into the branches of ever higher trees through their diplomatic dealings with others, combined with their hard work and application.

Fire Monkey

Year: 1956 & 2016

Fire brings extra energy and determination to the Monkeys. What stamina , what daring and what a uniquely inventive mind the Fire Monkey possesses!. These people always strive to gain the upper hand and like nothing better than a position at the top of the tree. They also love making conquests among the opposite sex and can be very fickle - just Monkey fun, of course but this does not always get appreciated by those who take life and love more seriously. At the same time, the Fire Monkey fells strongly about his or her own aims and ambitions in all aspects of life. Fire Monkeys should remember that there is a saying in the East: "The further up the tree a Monkey goes, the more you see his bottom." If they use their talents and vitality well, they can be highly successful, popular with all and loyal to and loved by their chosen partner.

Earth Monkey

Year: 1908 & 1968

Honest, serious, intelligent and academically minded, Earth Monkeys like to go by the rule book. They are calmer than others of their tribe and show concern for and kindness to others. Emotionally reserved and controlled, they are less highly strung than most Monkeys and altogether more dependable. They are honest in all their dealings and completely devoted to the causes and people they care for. Generally unselfish and reliable, they nevertheless have an ego. They very  much appreciate respect and may even be a bit huffy if this is not handed out. They can be irritatingly law-abiding in a most un-Monkey-like way. As partner they are kind and loyal, very loving and deeply understanding.

The Monkey Lover

Fleet of foot and nimble of mind, Monkeys can also be fast and loose when it comes to sexual relationships. In fact, of all the astrological Animal signs, this is the one that has the greatest reputation for promiscuity. Certainly, Monkeys can be flirtatious, especially to do with younger days; perhaps this is something to do with boredom or the need for new experiences. Or perhaps the Monkey sees it as a skill, like balancing act to have several lovers and admirers going at the same time.

Monkeys have a sense of mischief, a delight in breaking the rules, impishness and the ability to bend the truth to their own advantage. There are even times when Monkey folk can be unscrupulous, manipulative and clever at covering up their traces - skills that they wouldn't balk at using in the pursuit of a lover!

As lovers Monkeys ca be passionate and intense. They also know how to be a vamp and a tease. Monkeys knows how to charm and allure, how to be funny and provocative, how to amuse and entertain with their sparkling wit and ready repartee. Deeply sensual and fantastically sexy, when the Monkey settles down, he or she is likely to remain remarkably faithful and true.

The Monkey Lover Partner

The ideal partner for  a Monkey is light at heart and quick of wit. Too much sensitivity will bring the partner to grief and to much solemnity will not suit the Monkey at all.

Rat A shared outlook and a common understanding equals love for you and your Rat
Ox When this relationship works, life can be fun, fun, fun
Tiger You're likely to drive each other up the wall!
Rabbit It'll end in tears
Dragon You think alike and understand each other perfectly - a combination destined to be happy and successful
Snake Intellectually, you make a great match. Emotionally, jealousy gets in the way
Horse A prickly combination, better for friendship than for marriage
Sheep Very different people, but you could make a go of it by pooling your talents and resources
Monkey Brilliant rapport, even if at times you behave like adolescents!
Rooster  Romantically, this could be a bit of a damp squib
Dog Not a bad shot. With so much desire to pull together, you  have plenty going for you.
Pig Occasional strife heightens the sexual tension between you

The Monkey at Health

As far as the Monkey is concerned, life is too short to be ill. With their indomitable spirit they tend to keep diseases at bay and keep themselves fighting fit. Monkeys generally seem to enjoy extraordinarily good health and if they are ever ill, usually show amazing powers of recovery. If they succumb to any illness it is likely to be to a nervous disorder or later in life, to heart or circulatory conditions, due to the fast pace at which they lead their lives. It would be a good idea for most Monkeys to channel a little more of their energy into taking physical, rather than mental exercise.

The Monkey at Home

Most Monkey people are more suited to the hustle and bustle of the city than to the peace and quiet of the country. They always like to be at the center of things, feeling the pulse of life around them. Seeing people going past the door or gathering in a city center will keep a Monkey amused for hours, preferably situated up a hill, would be ideal. Sensible Monkeys use their  Monkey intelligence and energy on hobbies and their homes may even have a special room that is devoted to a model railways, computer games, dressmaking or whatever interesting pastime exercise those busy Monkey wits.

The Monkey at Work

Adaptability and a good memory are the Monkey's stock-in-trade. Intelligent and astute, Monkeys pick up skills in the twinkling of an eyes and then work out a way of improving the task. If a job can be done in half the time for twice the money, the Monkeys is sure to find the way to do it. Many Monkeys work in the world of finance, where they love doing quick deals and the buzz of the stock exchange floor, and many make excellent sales people, using their communication skills.
