| The
Horse Personality
Bursting with life,
vivacity and irrepressible enthusiasm, Horse people explode onto the
scene, becoming without effort the life and soul of the party and
amusing everyone with their sparking wit and lively conversation. Then,
without warning, they will kick up their heels and head off to the next
pasture that takes their eager fancy.
Horse
people are indisputably impulsive and highly volatile. Yet they are also
intelligent and practical with it. They have razor-sharp minds, enabling
them to pick up new skills in the twinkling of an eye and they are adept
at carrying on several conversations at once or at holding down two or
three jobs at a time, while attending to whatever is on hand. |
Years of the Horse
Seventh in the cycle, Horse years follow
on from the Snake and recur every twelfth year thereafter.

BASIC
CHARACTER
Most people
find Horse folk as attractive as they are elegant, always at home in
social situations and are open, honest and completely with out guile.
But they like a challenge and sometimes fail to stick with things when
they see a new fence in the distance to jump. While Horse people are
dependably loyal to friends and colleagues and particularly to partners,
they like to keep their freedom and independence - even though they may
only want to graze under a tree or gallop over the hills alone.
On
the whole, the Horse is likeable and trustworthy - neither shy and
over-sensitive, nor egotistical - a good companion and a good leader,
without being bossy. But Horse people can have fits of stubbornness, in
which they show their self-centered side. They also have a temper and a
fierce kick. They can find themselves exploding in a sudden rage, which,
however justifiable then provocation, will usually seem out of all
proportion to it. Afterwards, the Horse person feels full of regret, but
not everyone else will be able to understand and forgive the episode. |

Metal Horse
Year:
1930 & 1990
|
Twice
as adventurous, independent and freedom-living as the average Horse and
with a great enthusiasm for any challenge, the Metal Horse has a fear of
being trapped that makes him or her shun all form of commitment. This
Horse is born rover and is always reluctant to put down roots or to
settle in a stable relationship. Consequently, he or she tends to change
jobs and partner frequently. This type of Horse is particularly
attractive to others with a hint of a wild friend as long as the
Horse knows he or she is able to head off alone when the fancy takes
hold.
|
Water Horse
Year:
1942 & 2002
|
The
fluidity of the Water elements brings great adaptability and the Water
Horse can make the most of circumstances, whatever they may be. But this
is also the most indecisive of the equine tribe. The Water Horse tends
to make frequent changes of mind and follow a new direction at a toss of
the mane. This behavior can be confusing to colleagues and partners, who
thought they knew where they were. At its best, it gives a sense of
spontaneity and keeps people excitedly on their toes, but it can also
make the Water Horse seem irritatingly or bafflingly inconsistent. Still,
the Water Horse is always cheerful and has a sparkling wit and
marvellous sense of humor, which makes this Horse always in demand.

|
Wood Horse
Year:
1954 & 2014
|
This
stabilizing influence helps to temper the Horse's inconsistency and
adventurousness, making the Wood Horse less skittish than most. As a
consequence, Wood Horse are generally more predictable than other Horse
folk and better able to control excessive equine restlessness and take a
more disciplined approach to life. Ultimately, this brings professional
success and stability in personal relationships. All Horses will work
hard but Wood Horse perhaps tend to stick to the task in hand more
readily than other Horse types, and work cooperatively with others. They
are intelligent and good-humored - but even so, the Horse nature balks
at any hint of being dominated by anyone else.
