| The Dog Personality
Caring, unselfish and
altruistic, the Dog is one of life's givers. The Dog person always has a
kind word to say, an encouraging remark to offer and reassuring smile.
Dogs make time for other people, listening to their problems, providing
a shoulder for them to cry on, lending them support and finding some
wise counsel from that seemingly bottomless well of common sense
philosophy that they possess. Their detractors on the other hand, might
say that they are just nosey, following people around and giving advice
when it wasn't asked for. People rarely notice that their Dog friend
knows more about them than they know about the Dog. The Dog doesn't like
to reveal his or her own problems and tends to be a bit of worrier in
private. |

BASIC
CHARACTER
There are
times when , because they think they know best, Dogs can be somewhat
high-handed, marching in and taking over a situation without waiting to
be asked, and twice as forcefully as anyone expected. But such occasions
are rare and it's more often that the Dog's generosity of spirit and
genuine concern shine through in every action. For as far as the Dog
type is concerned, it is always people that count. Money, power,
prestige - none of these things matter to the Dog. For these people,
their family and loved ones constitute all the treasure they need and
they have a widespread - and genuine - concern for others.
Dog
people specialize. They won't be seen wasting their energy by following
each new scent that greets them and wasting their time on one new thing
after another. Once they have chosen a hobby or interest, they stick to
it. And they tend to be the same with work - sticking purposefully to
their chosen career. It is just as well for them to choose carefully.
They need the incitement of knowing that what they are doing is
worthwhile and they may show a slightly lazy streak if they are not
motivated enough. Dogs are disarmingly honest, highly principled and
morally upright and those who come to know Dogs soon learn to
respect their great integrity and to value their warm and faithful
friendship. |

Metal Dog
Year:
1910 & 1970
|
Uncompromisingly
scrupulous and with extremely high standards, Metal Dogs have a serious
outlook on life. Fiercely loyal and faithful, once they have shown their
allegiance to a person, party or cause, there is very little that will
persuade them to retract. These Dogs have firm confidence in themselves
and in the importance of their chosen cause. They are forthright and not
afraid to speak their minds and will back their causes loyally and
consistently in word and deed. With the unbending influence of the Metal
element, this type of Dogs tends to want to have a plan and to feel a
little anxious if the plan seems to be going wrong. Sometimes it would
help them to lighten up a little and not to take things quite so
seriously.

|
Water Dog
Year:
1922 & 1982
|
The Water
Dog's keen insight, quite contemplative nature, and powerful
psychological penetration make it easy for Water Dogs to appreciate
other people's points of view. They are more flexible and easygoing than
some of the other Dog people because of the Water influence, but they
can also be in need of more control. Their easygoing nature may
encourage them to be incautious with money and perhaps be a little less
loyal and reliable than the majority of Dogs. However the Water Dog's
friendliness and warmth, tolerance and understanding guarantee that
these Dogs will never be short of friends and they are sure to be among
the most popular of people with friends and colleagues alike.

|
Wood Dog
Year:
1934 & 1994
|
Wood Dogs
are generous by nature and well-balanced by disposition. More adaptable
but less independent than other Dogs, they like to live and work as part
of a group. The support of others is important to the Wood Dog, as this
gives them the sense of protection and support that is so necessary to
their well being. They are loyal to the group and very friendly within
it, but they don't go around wagging their tails at all and sundry and
can be shy with new people until they get to know them. They tend to
lack-confidence when outside their chosen group, although they are
amiable and well-liked and have very stable characters.

Fire Dog
Year: 1946 & 2006
|
Fire Dogs make born leaders.
This element imparts dynamism, energy, enthusiasm, independence, a
strong streak of adventurousness and tons of charm with a
charismatic personality. An outgoing disposition and creative mentality
ensure the Fire Dog popularity and success. Fire Dogs are usually very
attractive to people of both sexes and have great self-assurance.
Nevertheless, they have the Dog person's sterling qualities of honesty,
loyalty and reliability and they do not get carried away with their own
success. With their adventurous spirits, Fire Dogs are less settled than
others and may have a more volatile nature.

Earth Dog
Year:
1958 & 2018
|
Slow but sure, the solid
Earth Dog is a wise and kindly character. The Earth element lends these
people innate practicality and invaluable talent when it comes to giving
advice and dealing with money. Honesty,, objectivity and impeccable integrity
are the trademarks of Earth Dogs. They are good at influencing other
people's opinions through their quietly persuasive manners and they
always weigh the evidence, the Earth Dog will always dispense justice
wisely and be thoroughly dependable when placed in positions of power. |

The
Dog Lover
There is an innate shyness about Dog
people that can get in the way of making friends. Perhaps this is
because Dogs need to know people well before they entrust them with
their affections. Perhaps they are suspicious with a fear of being hurt
and let down. For Dogs are sensitive and emotionally tender - they do
not easily throw slights over their shoulders and consequently their
wounds take a long time to heal.
Having found his or her soulmate, the
Dog person makes a loyal and true companion. As a lover, Dogs are kind
and gentle. Helpful and supportive, they care tenderly for those they
love and are always anxious to please. They stick by their partner,
sharing all the highs and lows of life, defending and protecting him or
her if need be with every fiber of their being.
A Dog who is contented and loved is
happy to plow his or her won furrow. Dogs are undemanding and have simple
needs. Because they find change disturbing, even if they are unhappy in
love, they are likely to stay put rather than cast off into the cold
unknown. Honesty is the Dog's abiding principle, but harsh truths can do
untold damage in a relationship and Dogs need to learn to deliver their
criticisms with tact if they are to avoid being accused of possessing a
caustic tongue. |
| The Dog Lover Partner
The system of Chinese
horoscopes is very specific about which Animals are compatible and which
are antagonistic, and this tells us whether our relationship have the
potential to be successful. Most people get on well with Dog folk and
they make good partners with many of the other types. A bit on the
serious side and rather down-to-earth, the Dog may find the flashy
Rooster or the fiery Dragon tiresome and there will seldom be love lost
between the two, while the Sheep will find the Dog unbending and bring
out his or her bossiness. |

The
Dog at Health
Their general philosophical acceptance
of human nature and the vagaries of life tend to give Dog people
resilience and keep their health on an even keel. Because of this they
seem to have a remarkable ability to absorb and withstand the buffeting
of events that life throws at them. Being happy is the Dog's best
protection against disease; otherwise, a tendency to feel deep-seated
anxiety can bring out problems associated with the nervous system. |
|
The Dog at Home
Dog-born individuals
love their homes to be clean and well-organized and will spend hours
dusting and polishing. But although it is neat and orderly, there is
always a comfortable feel about the Dog person's environment. Deep sofas
in attractive upholstery simply beg the welcome guest (and the Dog
owner) to sit down and take it easy. Dog people go for good taste, so
there is nothing showy about their house's interiors. Tradition is
important to them and they are more likely to favor conservative styles
and will choose solid wood in preference to plastic, wool carpets rather
than synthetics, and antiques or traditional furniture instead of modern
pieces. |
|
The
Dog at Work
Cheerful and willing,
Dog people are thoughtful and helpful and whether at the top or bottom
of the ladder, often take on extra responsibilities in order to lighten
the loads of their colleagues. As a consequence, they are always popular
and respected members of the workforce. In positions of responsibility
the Dog is a good judge of people, possessing insight and intuition and
so thoroughly honest and open that he or she inspires loyalty from the
rest of the team. |
